The St. Louis-based supermarket chain, which has two stores in Springfield, plans a six-week pilot test of the scanning technology. Two more St. Louis stores will be added in coming days. Tally’s “job,” according to a company announcement, is to scan shelves in the morning, at noon and in the evening to assure adequate inventory and that products are properly tagged. The pilot program is through a partnership with San Francisco-based Simbe Robotics Inc. Schnucks spokesman Paul Simon said the six-week test will determine whether Tally becomes a regular sight in the shopping aisles of company stores.
